One Championship: Demetrious Johnson vs. Danny Kingad (Fulll Fight)
Team Lakay young gun Danny “The King” Kingad could not overcome the experience of Demetrious “Mighty Mouse” Johnson, falling via Unanimous decision in the ONE Flyweight World Grand Prix held at the Ryogoku Kokugikan in Tokyo, Japan.
Kingad suffered only his second career loss, dropping to (13-2-0), while Johnson climbed to (30-3-0) in the bout that served as the co-main event of ONE: Century Part I.
Though the native of La Trinidad, Benguet had a strong start, the former UFC World Lightweight Champion remained composed, eventually getting his footing.
Johnson’s takedowns were unstoppable all throughout the bout.
Despite the loss, Kingad showed that he is no pushover. He even survived a tough kimura attempt by Johnson in the second round.
But Johnson was just too experienced for Kingad.
Kingad advanced to the finale after defeating Reece McLaren in the semis last August 2 in Manila. Johnson, on the other hand, stopped Yuya Wakamatsu in the first round before dominating Tatsumitsu Wada in the semis.
With the win, Johnson will be in line for a title shot against ONE Flyweight World Champion Adriano Moraes.
