The UFC are as of now targeting Usman vs Masvidal for UFC 252

The UFC are as of now targeting Usman vs Masvidal for UFC 252, T Mobile Arena, July 11th, which will take place during international fight week.

The two have been at each others throats as of late, firing shots at each other for several weeks. White has noticed Masvidal’s exponential rise in popularity, which has also played a big deciding part.

“People love (Masvidal),” White said. “He’s authentic, he’s real, he’s hardcore. The stuff that went down with Usman, the stuff that went down with (Leon) Edwards – that’s the kind of guy he is. That’s how him and (Nate) Diaz ended up fighting for the ‘BMF’ belt. He’s legit, he’s real, and people feel it, and people like it.”

Usman defeated Tyron Woodley via a lop-sided unanimous decision to win the welterweight title. He then battled it out with rival Colby Covington, winning via fifth round TKO. He now has eleven straight wins in the UFC, including wins over Rafael dos Anjos and Demian Maia. Masvidal knocked out Darren Till to kick off 2019, then he viciously finished Ben Askren in the fastest knockout in the history of the UFC at just five seconds. He then faced Nate Diaz at UFC 244 in a battle for the official BMF title in the UFC. Masvidal won the exciting fight via third round TKO.

UFC welterweight title fight between the reigning champion Kamaru Usman and “BMF” Jorge Masvidal is set. It is expected to headliner UFC 252 held during the international fight week 2020 in Las Vegas, NV.

The bout is yet to be officially announced as the headliner of UFC 252.

Kamaru Usman (16-1) was last seen in action in December 2019 when he made his first successful defense of the welterweight title by TKO in Round 5 against Colby Covington. In March 2019 he defeated former champion Tyron Woodley by unanimous decision and claimed the belt.

Jorge Masvidal (35-13) won three bouts in a row. In his previous outing he took the “Baddest Mother F*cker” belt by TKO in Round 3 against Nate Diaz. Before that he KO’d Ben Askren in five seconds with flying knee and stopped Darren Till in the second round.
